How to translate and improve Microsoft Teams messages with AI

Install the BetterSend desktop app for Mac or Windows and open Microsoft Teams. To improve a message, write it in any language, click the BetterSend icon in the Teams message box, pick a tone and replace your draft with natural English. To understand a message you received, double-click it and choose Translate or Explain, in any of 44 languages. In Teams on the web, the BetterSend Chrome extension adds the same buttons.

In the Teams app on Mac or Windows

For the Microsoft Teams desktop app, where most people use Teams at work.

  1. 1

Download the BetterSend desktop app for macOS or Windows and sign in with your email and the code we send you.

  2. 2

On a Mac, allow Accessibility access when the app asks. It is how BetterSend reads the message box and the message you point at. Windows needs no permission.

  3. 3

In Teams, write your draft in any language, click the BetterSend icon in the message box, pick a tone and the output language, and replace the draft with the result.

  4. 4

To understand a message from a colleague, double-click it and choose Translate or Explain. The result opens in a small card next to the message.

In Teams on the web, with the Chrome extension

For Teams in the browser, on any computer that runs Chrome.

  1. 1

Add BetterSend to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store and sign in with your email. The free plan needs no card.

  2. 2

Open Teams in Chrome. The message box gets an Improve button, and each message you receive gets Translate and Explain.

  3. 3

Write your draft in any language and press Improve. Choose a tone and the output language, then replace your draft with the result.

  4. 4

Press Translate under a message to read it in your language, or Explain to understand jargon, idioms and tone.

What BetterSend does in Teams

Picks the right tone

13 tones, from Professional and Diplomatic to Concise and Confident, so a note to your manager and a reply to a client each sound right. 3 are free, the rest come with Pro.

Explains, not only translates

Explain says what a message means, jargon, idioms and the tone behind it included, for the times a literal translation leaves you guessing.

You write in your language

Draft the message in the language you think in. BetterSend rewrites it in natural English, or in the language your colleague writes in.

Never stores your messages

Only the message you act on is sent, it is used to produce the result and then discarded. BetterSend does not store message text or use it to train models.

What it costs

Free plan: 50 AI actions a month and 3 tones, no card. Each improve, translate or explain is one action.

Pro: $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, with unlimited actions and all 13 tones.

BetterSend and the alternatives

Each of these is the right choice for someone. This is where each one is better.
