How to translate your message into English before you send it
Write the message in the language you think in, right in the message box. Before you send it, click the BetterSend icon in the Slack, Teams, WhatsApp or Discord app on Mac or Windows, or press Improve in the browser. Pick a tone and BetterSend replaces your draft with natural English, or with another of 44 languages, and you read it before you press send. Nothing goes out until you do.

- 4

Why this works better than a translator
A tone, not a literal translation
A translator keeps the word order and formality of your language. BetterSend rewrites the message in one of 13 tones, from Friendly to Diplomatic. 3 are free, the rest come with Pro.
It also reads the message you are answering
Translate and Explain work on the message you received, so you know what an idiom or a short reply meant before you write back.
You stay in the conversation
No tab to switch to and nothing to paste. The draft is rewritten where you wrote it, in the app you were already using.
Never stores your messages
Only the message you act on is sent, it is used to produce the result and then discarded. BetterSend does not store message text or use it to train models.
What it costs
Free plan: 50 AI actions a month and 3 tones, no card. Each improve, translate or explain is one action.
Pro: $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, with unlimited actions and all 13 tones.
BetterSend and the alternatives
Each of these is the right choice for someone. This is where each one is better.
| Tool | What it does before you send | Better when |
|---|---|---|
| Google Translate | You paste your draft into the translator and paste the result back. It is literal, so word order, formality and idioms often come out wrong, and there is no tone to choose. | The message is short and literal, like a time, an address or a yes. |
| ChatGPT | You paste the draft into a chat, ask for an English version in a certain tone and copy the answer back into the app, one message at a time. | You are writing something long and want to talk it through before sending. |
| Immersive Translate | In the browser, pressing the space bar three times after your draft replaces it with a translation of what you typed. | You mostly read in another language and now and then need a quick translation of a short reply. |
| BetterSend | Improve rewrites your draft from any language in 13 tones, and Translate and Explain read the messages you receive in 44 languages, in the browser and in the Slack, Teams, WhatsApp and Discord apps on Mac and Windows. | You write work messages in a second language every day and want them to sound natural before they go out. |
