Alternative to ChatGPT
ChatGPT alternative for rewriting work messages
ChatGPT rewrites a message well, and for a document, a plan or anything that needs a conversation it is the right tool. The cost is the trip: copy the draft, switch tabs, write the prompt, copy the answer, switch back, paste. BetterSend is that one prompt turned into a button inside Slack, Teams, WhatsApp Web, Gmail and eight more sites, and inside the desktop apps: press Improve, pick a tone, and the message is ready where you were writing it. It keeps the tone consistent from one message to the next, and it never stores what you send.

What changed at ChatGPT
- Since January 16, 2026 OpenAI has been testing ads in ChatGPT for the Free and Go plans in the United States, shown under the answers. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise stay ad-free.
- ChatGPT Go costs US$ 8 a month, Plus US$ 20 and Pro US$ 200, as of October 2026. The free plan has usage limits on the newer models.
- Conversations are kept in your history by default and may be used to improve models unless you turn that off in Data controls. A pasted thread from work stays in that history.
- Rewriting one message is six steps: copy the draft, switch to ChatGPT, write the prompt, copy the result, switch back, paste. BetterSend is three clicks in the composer.
What BetterSend gives you for free
- 50 AI actions a month, every month, with no trial that runs out and no card. Each Improve, Translate or Explain is one action.
- 3 tones (Professional, Friendly, Fix Grammar) and 10 free uses of the Pro tones, to try the others on real messages.
- Write in Portuguese, Spanish or any other language and get natural English back, in one click.
- Translate and Explain on the messages you receive, in 44 languages.
- The desktop app for Mac and Windows puts the same button in the Slack, Teams, WhatsApp and Discord apps, on the same free plan.
- Your message is sent only when you click, never stored and never used to train models.
Where ChatGPT is still the better choice
- Anything longer than a message: a document, a proposal, a summary, a plan, code.
- A back-and-forth. BetterSend gives one rewrite per click; it cannot answer a follow-up question about it.
- Research, files and images. BetterSend only reads the draft or the message you point it at.
- If you already pay for ChatGPT and send a few messages a day, keeping it is fine: the rewrite works, it just takes the trip.
Switch in three steps
- 1
Add BetterSend to Chrome and sign in with your email. The free plan needs no card.
- 2
Open Slack, Teams, WhatsApp Web or Gmail, write the draft in your own language and press Improve.
- 3
For the apps installed on your computer, get BetterSend for Mac or Windows.
Common questions
Is BetterSend just ChatGPT with a button?
It uses a language model with fixed, tested instructions for each of the 13 tones, and it runs inside the chat app. The point is the placement and the consistent tone, not the model.
Does BetterSend keep my messages like ChatGPT keeps the chat history?
No. A message is sent only when you press Improve, Translate or Explain, used once and discarded. Only metadata such as the action type is kept, on every plan.
Can I ask BetterSend to change something in the result?
Yes, within the message: three one-touch adjustments (shorter, more complete, warmer) are free, and Pro takes a written instruction. There is no conversation beyond that.
What does BetterSend cost compared with ChatGPT?
The free plan has 50 actions a month with no card. Pro is $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year. ChatGPT Go is US$ 8 a month and Plus is US$ 20, as of October 2026.
