Alternative to QuillBot
QuillBot alternative that never stores your messages
Since November 8, 2025, QuillBot's browser extension stores the text you type by default, and its privacy policy allows training AI models on the data it collects. If you mostly use QuillBot to rewrite work messages, BetterSend does that job without keeping anything: your draft is sent only when you click, used once and discarded. For essays, long documents and academic writing, QuillBot is still the stronger tool.

What changed at QuillBot
- On November 8, 2025 QuillBot updated its privacy policy: the browser extension now stores text inputs from all users by default. Before, it asked for consent first.
- Storing can be turned off in the extension settings. A separate setting turns off training AI models on your inputs, and it is only available to people with an account.
- QuillBot's Trust Center says team plan inputs are not used for training. Individual plans have no such exclusion by default.
- QuillBot belongs to Learneo, which also owns LanguageTool, whose extension became Premium only in 2026.
- Premium costs US$ 19.95 a month or US$ 99.95 a year, as of October 2026.
What BetterSend gives you for free
- 50 AI actions a month, every month, with no trial that runs out and no card. Each Improve, Translate or Explain is one action.
- 3 tones (Professional, Friendly, Fix Grammar) and 10 free uses of the Pro tones, to try the others on real messages.
- Write in Portuguese, Spanish or any other language and get natural English back, in one click.
- Translate and Explain on the messages you receive, in 44 languages.
- The desktop app for Mac and Windows puts the same button in the Slack, Teams, WhatsApp and Discord apps, on the same free plan.
- Your message is sent only when you click, never stored and never used to train models.
Where QuillBot is still the better choice
- It is built for longer text: essays, articles and documents, with a paraphraser that offers several versions per sentence.
- Academic tools BetterSend does not have: a citation generator, an AI detector, a summarizer and, on Premium, a plagiarism checker.
- It checks grammar as you type, across many sites and in Word and Google Docs.
- It has keyboards for iPhone and Android. BetterSend has no mobile app.
